Software Engineering Intern, Developer Tools - 2027
NVIDIAJob Title
Software Engineering Intern, Developer Tools - 2027
Role Summary
Join the Developer Tools team to build software used to debug, profile, and analyze GPU-accelerated applications. The role contributes to tools across the stack, from user workflows and GUIs to low-level libraries and driver interfaces.
As an intern you will implement features, validate functionality on hardware, and collaborate with drivers and architecture teams to improve GPU profiling and debugging capabilities.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship. Targeted at current university students pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees (BS/MS/PhD) in technical fields.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include developing and validating developer tools features and improving user workflows and libraries used for GPU performance tuning and debugging.
- Develop and maintain Compute Sanitizer tools (GPU memory checker) across Linux, Windows, and embedded OS targets.
- Collaborate with developer tools, driver, and architecture teams on design, implementation, and verification of product features.
- Design and implement user workflows and user-interface solutions that empower customers.
- Enhance GPU profiling and debugging libraries with new features to improve application performance analysis.
- Perform validation and hardware bring-up for GPU developer tools features used by compute-sanitizer.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for successful contribution during the internship.
- Strong programming ability in C and C++.
- Knowledge of computer architecture (examples: x86, ARM CPUs, GPUs).
- Experience with device drivers, real-time systems, game console middleware, or other low-level library/system software development.
- Interest in GPU compute and low-level systems; attention to quality and results-driven.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience shipping commercial applications or contributing to device drivers/system software.
- Familiarity with GPU APIs (Direct3D, Vulkan, OpenGL, OpenCL, CUDA) and simulation/emulation or test development.
- Experience with code patching, ELF/DWARF, or reading/writing assembly for multiple architectures.
- Knowledge of compute architecture, operating systems, compilers; GUI experience with Qt for candidates interested in UI work.
Education Requirements
Pursuing a B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, or pursuing an M.S. or Ph.D. in a related technical field (EE/CS or equivalent graduate study).
