Software Engineer Intern

Role Summary

As an intern on the software engineering team, you will research and evaluate numerical algorithms for finite element analysis (FEA) used in electronic design automation workflows. The role focuses on algorithm exploration, prototyping, and performance analysis of PDE solvers.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship intended for current MS or PhD students; typically 0–2 years of professional experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Explore and evaluate state-of-the-art algorithms for finite element analysis (FEA).
  • Develop prototypes or proof-of-concept implementations to assess algorithm performance.
  • Analyze numerical accuracy, stability, and computational performance for PDE solvers.
  • Document results and share findings with the engineering team.

Requirements

Key technical qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of numerical algorithms for partial differential equation (PDE) problems.
  • Familiarity with finite element analysis concepts and numerical methods for PDEs.

Education Requirements

Currently pursuing an MS or PhD in mathematics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
