Software Engineer (Integrity 3D-IC Infra)
Cadence Design SystemsJob Title
Software Engineer (Integrity 3D-IC Infra)
Role Summary
Develop digital central solutions for 3D-IC applications, focusing on early-stage physical design flows (pre-place-and-route). Work closely with customers and foundry partners to translate advanced-node requirements into production software solutions.
This role emphasizes software design and infrastructure for large datasets and early-stage optimization rather than implementation or sign-off tools.
Experience Level
Mid-level. No specific years of experience were stated.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include designing and implementing software for early-stage 3D-IC physical design flows and collaborating across teams and partners.
- Design and implement early-stage physical design flows (pre-place-and-route) for 3D-IC applications.
- Work with customers and foundry partners to gather requirements and translate them into software features.
- Develop scalable data and software infrastructure to handle large datasets.
- Optimize software performance and capacity; improve usability.
- Maintain and debug large legacy codebases; perform root-cause analysis.
- Write and maintain code, primarily in Java, with Tcl and Linux shell scripting; some C++ work.
- Document designs and present technical work to internal and external stakeholders.
- Work independently in a non-face-to-face/distributed model and interact professionally across teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and professional capabilities; degrees are summarized under Education Requirements.
- Proficient in Java (JDK 11β25), Tcl scripting, and Linux shell scripting.
- Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals: data structures and algorithms; familiarity with computational geometry, parallel programming, compilers, and databases is beneficial.
- Experience debugging and working with large legacy codebases.
- Knowledge of object-oriented programming and UNIX/Linux environments; familiarity with Windows is beneficial.
- Self-driven learner with good analytical, organizational, and presentation skills.
- Ability to assess task value, requirements, risks, and trade-offs; strong cross-team communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently without face-to-face supervision.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with EDA/CAD tools and desktop applications for large-scale datasets.
- Familiarity with early-stage physical design flows prior to place-and-route.
- Experience with software performance optimization, capacity planning, and usability design.
- Exposure to forward-deployed AI in engineering workflows.
- Practical C++ experience (minor role).
Education Requirements
Preferred: Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Relevant technical backgrounds (computer science fundamentals, computational geometry, parallel programming, compilers, databases) are expected. The posting does not state a strict degree requirement beyond this preference.
