Job Title

Pre-Silicon Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Design and execute verification plans, build testbenches and environments, and validate complex IPs and subsystems for NIC, IPU and AI hardware prior to silicon.

Work on a cross-functional verification team within Intel's Central Engineering Group to find and resolve pre-silicon bugs using simulation, formal techniques, and AI-assisted verification tools.

Experience Level

Mid-level - typically requires 5+ years of experience in functional design verification of ASIC, SoC or FPGA designs.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include planning, implementing and improving verification for IP and subsystem designs.

• Develop and execute IP verification plans to achieve thorough coverage of microarchitecture specifications.
• Design and implement testbenches and verification environments to validate functionality and reliability.
• Use simulation, formal methods and AI-assisted tools to analyze power, timing, coverage and identify bugs.
• Debug failures, identify root causes and implement corrective measures in the pre-silicon environment.
• Collaborate with architects, designers, DFT, emulation and bring-up teams to ensure correctness from block to system level.
• Maintain and improve functional verification methodologies, infrastructure and automation.
• Document test plans, participate in technical reviews and drive verification process improvements.

• Must-have: 5+ years of hands-on functional design verification experience for ASIC, SoC or FPGA designs.
• Must-have: Strong practical expertise with SystemVerilog, OVM/UVM and industry-standard debugging tools.
• Must-have: Experience creating IP test environments and applying formal verification methods.
• Must-have: Strong knowledge of digital design fundamentals and microarchitecture principles.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with SystemVerilog Assertions (SVA), code and functional coverage implementation and analysis.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with networking/switching and communications protocols (Ethernet) and cryptographic protocols (IPSec, DTLS, MACSec).
• Nice-to-have: Experience with AMBA protocols (APB, AXI).
• Nice-to-have: Experience with SystemC, Python, Perl, shell scripting and integrating AI tools into verification flows.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field is required. Master's or PhD in a related field is preferred. Equivalent practical experience may be acceptable.
