Software Engineer II: R&D Hardware Verification

Role Summary

Develop and maintain firmware and verification infrastructure for Cadence Palladium hardware emulation systems as part of the HSV team (SVG group) in Belo Horizonte. Work focuses on R&D for next-generation emulation platforms, including firmware development, validation, deployment, and debugging.

The role includes customer-facing technical support and creation of diagnostic tools; collaboration with global engineering teams is required.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities involve firmware engineering, system validation, and customer/debugging support for a distributed emulation platform.

• Design, implement, test, and debug firmware for a highly parallel distributed emulation system (Palladium).
• Validate, package, and deploy firmware releases; troubleshoot runtime and integration failures.
• Develop tools and automation to diagnose and reproduce system failures.
• Provide customer-facing technical support and collaborate with R&D and global teams to resolve issues.
• Participate in code reviews, maintain version-control workflows, and support CI processes.

Requirements

• Strong object-oriented programming skills.
• Proficiency in C++ and Python.
• Solid knowledge of advanced data structures and algorithms.
• Experience with Linux and Unix environments.
• Experience developing firmware or low-level software for distributed/parallel systems.
• Fluent verbal and written communication in English and Portuguese.

Nice-to-have

• Experience with Perforce version control.
• Scripting experience (Tcl, additional Python scripting).
• Simulation/emulation experience and EDA or VLSI familiarity (Verilog/VHDL).
• Linux kernel and driver development, build systems.
• Networking knowledge (Ethernet, InfiniBand, RoCE) and familiarity with Agentic AI.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering required; the posting specifies degree completion with approximately 2+ years of relevant experience. A Master’s degree in Computer Science is listed as a plus. No certifications were specified.
