Software Engineer II, Innovus R&D

Role Summary

Member of the CTS (clock-tree synthesis) team within Innovus place-and-route R&D based in Belo Horizonte. Responsible for designing and implementing algorithms and software features for automated clock-tree synthesis and integrating them into the Innovus toolchain.

Work involves algorithm development, C++/Tcl implementation, scalability and performance improvements, and collaboration with a distributed global team.

Responsibilities

Primary technical and team responsibilities include:

  • Design and implement new algorithms and technology for automated clock-tree synthesis in Innovus.
  • Develop and maintain C++ and Tcl code in a distributed development environment.
  • Improve software scalability, reduce runtime and memory footprint.
  • Debug and resolve customer issues; fix bugs and ensure functional correctness.
  • Write and run unit tests and regression suites to validate changes.
  • Test algorithmic developments on industrial test cases and integrate results into the product.
  • Collaborate with global contributors, participate in code reviews and version-control workflows.

Requirements

Must-have skills and attributes:

  • Strong programming and software engineering experience in a C-like language (C/C++/Java/C#/Rust).
  • Familiarity with language features, data structures, design patterns, unit testing, and automation tools.
  • Experience debugging complex software and creating/maintaining unit tests and regressions.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Portuguese; effective team player.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Nice-to-have:

  • Knowledge of algorithms and data structures for Electronic Design Automation (placement, routing, clock-tree synthesis).
  • Experience with version control systems (Perforce, Git).
  • Familiarity with Linux command-line tools.
  • Experience using agentic coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) for development.

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or another numerate discipline. Preferred: a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline or a Bachelor’s with at least 2 years of comparable software engineering experience.
