Software Engineer II
Role Summary
Software Engineer II on the R&D team supporting synthesis and physical verification software. The role focuses on diagnosing customer problems, debugging and fixing issues, and developing features or optimizations that improve timing, area, and power.
Work involves research-oriented development, performance analysis, and collaboration with geographically distributed teams. Mentoring will be provided to develop professional software engineering skills.
Experience Level
Mid-level - 2β4 years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include product R&D and hands-on engineering support for customer issues and feature development.
- Analyze, reproduce, debug, and fix customer-reported problems in EDA software.
- Develop new features and enhancements to improve synthesis/verification results for timing, area, and power.
- Implement data analysis and debugging tools for performance analysis and research.
- Research and develop data-driven optimizations for geometric and topological operations in physical verification applications.
- Troubleshoot software on large, complex databases and optimize performance.
- Collaborate and integrate functionality with multiple geographically distributed teams; participate in testing and validation.
- Receive and act on mentoring to grow software engineering practices and code quality.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and professional capabilities; nice-to-have items listed separately.
- Must-have: Strong C++ programming skills, solid knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
- Must-have: Experience building/debugging analysis tools and troubleshooting large complex software/databases.
- Must-have: Analytical problem-solving skills, ability to learn and adapt to changing requirements and technologies.
- Must-have: Good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
- Must-have: Approximately 2β4 years of relevant software development experience in a technical domain.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with physical verification, geometric/topological algorithms, or data-driven optimization techniques; prior work with distributed development teams.
Education Requirements
B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication, Computer Science, or a closely related technical field.
