Software Engineer - Embedded (DLP Products)
Role Summary
Design and develop real-time embedded software for TI's DLP controllers used across industrial, automotive, and display products. Work with hardware, systems, applications, and customer teams to define requirements, implement firmware, validate systems, and provide ongoing support.
Experience Level
Entry-level (recommended 2+ years industry experience in embedded software development).
Responsibilities
Deliver embedded software throughout the product lifecycle and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Define requirements, design, implement, test, integrate, and support embedded software (OS, drivers, frameworks, libraries).
- Use established software development methodologies and follow code quality guidelines and version control processes.
- Support pre-silicon software requirements, validation, and influence hardware architecture for software needs.
- Create and maintain customer and internal documentation, application and user guides.
- Develop unit, system, and regression tests and automation scripts; analyze test results and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide maintenance, support change requests, and participate in release management and configuration control.
- Work with customers and applications teams to debug and resolve field issues.
- Collaborate globally with TI teams (silicon, controller, FPGA, algorithms, tools) to meet program objectives.
Requirements
Core technical skills and attributes required for successful performance; preferred items noted.
- Must-have: Proficient in C/C++ and experience developing and deploying applications on embedded platforms.
- Must-have: 2+ years industry experience in embedded software development and strong software debugging skills.
- Must-have: Adequate knowledge of hardware, ability to read schematics and use lab equipment (oscilloscope, logic analyzer).
- Must-have: Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams; good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with embedded RTOS platforms and scripting (Python).
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with Git, static analysis tools, unit/system/regression test development and automation.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with image processing algorithms, ML at the edge, or use of AI tools to improve development productivity.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with Automotive functional safety (ISO 26262), ASPICE, MISRA C, DFMEA, or dynamic analysis.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (EE), Electronics/Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE), Computer Science/Engineering (CSE) or a closely related technical field. (Degree level noted in job info: Bachelor's degree minimum.)
