Software Engineer – C++ / Digital Logic Design
SiemensJob Title
Software Engineer – C++ / Digital Logic Design
Role Summary
Develop compiler software in the Hardware Assisted Verification (HAV) division to map System-on-Chip designs onto emulator hardware. Work focuses on analysis, partitioning, placement, and synthesis to support mapping of customer designs to emulator resources.
The role is primarily C++ development on Linux, with system-level testing and cross-team collaboration with software and hardware groups in a multi-site environment. Candidates must be able to work on-site from Burlington, MA (hybrid).
Experience Level
Entry-level; 0–3 years of industry software development experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities involve developing and improving compiler components that analyze and map designs for emulation.
- Analyze clock and data networks, partition designs, and perform placement and logic synthesis to map designs to emulator resources.
- Design and implement new functionality and maintain existing compiler features.
- Develop and maintain large-scale C++ codebases on Linux.
- Create system-level tests using software simulation and develop new testing methods.
- Collaborate with software teams and Veloce hardware teams across international sites.
- Support integration, debugging, and performance optimization for emulator compilation flows.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- 0–3 years industry experience developing large C++ applications as part of a team.
- Strong algorithm and data-structure design skills.
- Understanding of gate-level digital logic design.
- Experience with Unix/Linux development environments.
- Ability to work effectively in teams and independently.
- Familiarity with software testing methods and writing system-level tests.
- Position subject to U.S. export control (ITAR/EAR); employment contingent on U.S. Person status or obtaining required export license.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience in EDA areas such as timing analysis, synthesis, partitioning, or placement.
- Experience with hardware description languages (Verilog/VHDL) and simulation tools (e.g., ModelSim).
- Scripting experience (Python, shell).
Education Requirements
BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
