Software Engineer
Role Summary
Develop and maintain High-Level Synthesis (HLS) compiler components and related EDA tools for Microchip's FPGA product line. Work on LLVM/MLIR-based compiler passes, hardware optimization, and system-level integration within a cross-functional engineering team based in Toronto.
Experience Level
Senior β 7+ years of software engineering experience, with prior compiler development experience preferred.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Develop, verify, and maintain analysis and transformation passes for the HLS compiler (LLVM/MLIR).
- Optimize generated hardware architectures for power, performance, and area.
- Analyze real-world customer applications to identify and implement performance and area improvements.
- Implement new HLS features and support system-level flows, SoC integration, and verification as required.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an agile environment to solve complex technical challenges.
Requirements
Must-have:
- 7+ years of software engineering experience.
- Proficiency in C/C++.
- Strong knowledge of compilers and solid understanding of algorithms and data structures.
- At least 2 years hands-on experience working with LLVM/MLIR.
- Strong background in digital design principles.
Nice-to-have:
- Hands-on FPGA experience and familiarity with HLS tools.
- Experience with full SoC design flows, IP integration, and hardware/software co-design.
- Familiarity integrating RISC-V subsystems and FPGA-based accelerators.
- Proficiency with Git and scripting languages (Python, Bash, TCL).
- Experience developing on Linux and Windows.
Education Requirements
BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
