Job Title

Software Engineer

Role Summary

Join the Calibre engineering team in the Siemens EDA IC segment to design, develop, and support parasitic extraction software (xACT, xACT3D). Work on computation engines, application software, APIs, and utilities with emphasis on numerical solutions to PDEs arising from electrostatics.

The role focuses on implementing production-quality numerical algorithms and supporting existing parasitic extraction products for post-layout analysis and simulation.

Experience Level

Mid-level. The posting implies several years of professional software development experience though no explicit years-of-experience requirement is stated.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include numerical algorithm implementation, software development, and collaboration on production-quality components.

  • Implement numerical solutions to PDEs (electrostatics) in C++ and related languages.
  • Develop and maintain computation engines, application software, APIs, and utilities for parasitic extraction.
  • Design and optimize meshing, linear solvers, and high-performance numerical algorithms.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers on design, code reviews, testing, and integration.
  • Support and maintain existing parasitic extraction products and respond to engineering issues.
  • Introduce and apply new technologies relevant to the product area.

Requirements

Must-have technical and professional qualifications.

  • Practical software development experience involving numerical linear algebra, data structures, and algorithms for large-scale simulation, analysis, or optimization.
  • Excellent programming skills in C++ and strong software engineering practices (unit testing, version control, code reviews).
  • Experience with meshing, linear solvers, or other numerical methods for scientific computing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to learn and apply new technologies.
  • Effective verbal and written communication and the ability to work in a team.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently on complex projects.
  • Familiarity with UNIX/Linux platforms.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with multi-threaded, distributed, and high-performance computing.
  • Experience with PDE solvers, electromagnetics, AI/ML methods for PDEs, or semiconductor device modeling.
  • IC CAD experience (DRC, LVS, extraction, simulation).

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Scientific Computing, or a related discipline from an accredited institution is required.
