Software Development Manager
Advanced Micro DevicesJob Title
Software Development Manager
Role Summary
Lead a global diagnostics software engineering team responsible for system-level and high-speed interconnect coverage for AMD data center and server processors. The team develops diagnostics, tools, and test suites used across the product lifecycle from pre-silicon validation through production.
Experience Level
Senior-level manager. Management experience leading technical software or firmware teams; proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and deliver against aggressive schedules.
Responsibilities
Manage technical direction, validation strategy, and delivery for Diagnostics on Data Center and Server programs. Key responsibilities include:
- Own end-to-end quality, coverage, and completeness of diagnostics for data center and server SoCs.
- Define and communicate project goals, risks, technical requirements, and test plans to program managers and stakeholders.
- Drive software and firmware requirements to achieve feature coverage and hardware bug-capture targets.
- Plan and execute SoC system-level validation: multi-IP use-case verification, power/performance evaluation, and stress testing.
- Drive pre-silicon emulation strategy and ensure RTL coverage targets prior to tape-out.
- Extend diagnostics into ATE and production functional test sequences and patterns.
- Collaborate with global cross-functional teams for bring-up, feature validation, performance profiling, and production support.
- Resolve critical technical issues through debugging, triage, and root-cause analysis.
- Improve coverage, reduce test time, and strengthen development processes.
- Develop and mentor engineering talent and influence stakeholders across organizations.
Requirements
Focus on technical leadership and domain expertise. Below are concise must-have and nice-to-have items.
Must-have:
- Proven experience leading software or firmware teams that deliver complex, cross-functional products.
- Hands-on background in diagnostics, device drivers, firmware, embedded software, or large-scale Linux system software.
- Strong understanding of PC, SoC, or GPU architecture (including PCIe/high-speed interconnects, memory subsystems, caches).
- Demonstrated success partnering with hardware designers, architects, validation, and manufacturing teams to resolve functional and production issues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for influencing and collaborating with globally distributed teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools or applying AI techniques to improve automation, debugging, or engineering productivity.
- Experience with ATE platforms, wafer sort, functional test, or production-screening pattern development.
- Proficiency in modern C++; familiarity with ROCm or comparable GPU programming environments.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
