Job Title

Software Development Engineer

Role Summary

Join the FPGA-based R&D team responsible for the Veloce proFPGA prototyping platform within Siemens EDA. You will design and implement FPGA solutions and supporting low-level validation software, integrate system components, and work closely with software engineers to deliver production-quality RTL and test flows.

Experience Level

Mid-level (typical for candidates with 3–7 years of relevant experience).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include designing, validating and integrating FPGA-based modules and related software.

  • Develop FPGA-based solutions and design digital HDL modules (VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog).
  • Design with attention to timing constraints, capacity planning and performance optimization.
  • Validate designs and run tests using simulation platforms and proFPGA hardware.
  • Develop low-level validation and test software for components.
  • Integrate system components and collaborate closely with the software team on interfaces and system-level testing.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; listed concisely.

  • Strong digital design skills using HDL: VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog.
  • Practical FPGA design experience and familiarity with FPGA toolflows (Vivado, Quartus).
  • Experience with static timing analysis (STA) and RTL-level debugging and simulation.
  • Proficiency in C++ and object-oriented software development for validation tooling.
  • Comfortable working in Linux and scripting with TCL, Bash, or Python.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Electronic/Electrical Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
