SoC Verification Senior Lead Engineer
NXP SemiconductorsJob Title
SoC Verification Senior Lead Engineer
Role Summary
Lead execution of SoC verification for complex ARM-based microcontroller systems. Work with product architects and design teams to deliver verification plans, environments, and regressions to achieve sign-off for tape-outs.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on RTL/netlist/gate-level verification, low-power verification, and driving design verification closure across IPs and subsystems.
Experience Level
Senior-level - typically 12+ years of SoC/IP verification experience (posting indicates 12β15 years).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include planning, implementing, executing, and delivering SoC and IP verification efforts.
- Develop and own SoC-level and IP-level verification suites and coverage goals.
- Execute verification plans according to product specifications and verification requirements.
- Develop, debug, and run UVM-based verification environments for RTL and netlist simulation.
- Define and implement test cases, stimulus, and assertions; run regressions and analyze functional/code coverage.
- Perform simulations across RTL, power-aware RTL (UPF), gate-level, FPGA, and emulation platforms.
- Drive design verification (DV) closure for diverse IPs and subsystems to meet quality targets.
- Apply formal verification techniques where appropriate and promote reuse and efficient flows.
- Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with design teams to resolve issues and achieve sign-off.
Requirements
Must-have technical experience and skills for successful performance in this role.
- 12+ years of SoC/IP verification experience with participation in successful SoC tape-outs.
- Strong expertise in ARM-based microcontroller SoC verification and C-based DV.
- Proficiency in Verilog, SystemVerilog, UVM, and constrained-random verification.
- Experience with EDA simulators such as Synopsys VCS and Cadence Xcelium.
- Experience with low-power verification (UPF) and power-aware simulations.
- Experience with gate-level simulation and related flows.
- Working knowledge of assertions (SVA) and functional coverage metrics and analysis.
- Strong debugging skills across simulation and emulation platforms.
- Good communication skills and ability to work in fast-paced, collaborative teams.
- Nice-to-have: verification of interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, eSPI); knowledge of Flash memory, security IPs, and common analog IPs (ADC, DAC, PLLs).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Microelectronics, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering (as stated in the posting).
