SoC Verification Engineer
Nordic SemiconductorJob Title
SoC Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Join the digital group in the Cellular IoT R&D unit to develop Nordic Semiconductor's next-generation ultra-low-power SoCs. The role focuses on RTL/IP integration and functional verification with an emphasis on verification planning, test infrastructure and coverage closure.
The team works on low-power wireless and microcontroller subsystems. You will collaborate with hardware and software engineers in Tampere to deliver robust verification environments and leverage AI-driven methods to increase verification efficiency.
Experience Level
Entry-level / Early-in-career - junior role. Suitable for candidates with approximately 0–3 years of relevant verification or RTL experience.
Responsibilities
Primary verification and test development tasks:
- Plan SoC/IP subsystem verification and define coverage goals.
- Develop test infrastructure and functional verification environments.
- Write embedded C or CPU-centric tests for verification.
- Define, implement and analyze coverage metrics.
- Develop testbenches and test cases using Verilog, SystemVerilog and UVM.
- Read, debug and perform root-cause analysis of RTL (Verilog, SystemVerilog, VHDL).
- Apply AI-assisted tools and techniques for test/testbench generation, regression management, and failure triage.
Requirements
Essential technical skills and language abilities:
- Strong knowledge of coverage-based, assertion-based and formal verification techniques.
- Solid working knowledge of HDLs: Verilog, SystemVerilog and/or VHDL; familiarity with SystemVerilog Assertions (SVA).
- Good debugging and problem-solving skills for verification environments and RTL issues.
- Programming experience with low-level or script languages is beneficial (C, C++, Python, Perl).
- Interest in or experience using AI tools (e.g., LLM-based coding assistants) in verification workflows is a plus.
- Fluent English (written and oral).
Education Requirements
MSc in Electrical Engineering or equivalent academic degree preferred; a Bachelor’s degree with relevant industrial experience is acceptable. Equivalent practical verification experience will also be considered.
