SoC Security Architect
ArmJob Title
SoC Security Architect
Role Summary
Define and develop security architectures for system-on-chip (SoC) products across multiple market segments, covering root of trust, secure boot, key management, confidential compute, authentication/encryption, secure manufacturing, and device lifetime management.
Work within the Hardware Engineering organization in San Diego in a hybrid model, performing threat modeling, specifying software and hardware security requirements, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to produce secure SoC designs.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The role requires advanced architecture and leadership experience; no specific years of experience are stated.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Architect SoC security solutions including Root of Trust, secure boot, attestation, key management, and update/recovery mechanisms.
- Design access control and privilege-management mechanisms for confidential compute and secure media pipelines.
- Perform threat modeling, hardware and firmware security analysis, and derive software/hardware security requirements.
- Assess side-channel and fault-injection threats and specify appropriate countermeasures.
- Collaborate with product, firmware, hardware, and software teams to refine security guidelines and influence the security roadmap.
- Define secure manufacturing and device lifetime management strategies to ensure authenticity, isolation, and confidentiality of assets.
Requirements
Critical skills and experience required or strongly preferred:
- Must-have: Demonstrated experience with applied cryptography, key derivation/management, secure boot, secure manufacturing, and confidentiality technologies.
- Strong cryptographic and protocol knowledge, plus experience in hardware/software threat analysis, risk assessment, and security certification processes.
- Experience designing ARM or x86 SoC security architectures, attestation protocols, isolation, virtualization, and end-to-end confidentiality solutions.
- Practical experience addressing side-channel attacks (SPA, DPA), fault injection, DRM threats, and implementing resistance countermeasures.
- Platform security expertise across Android, Windows, or IoT stacks, including application, framework, kernel, and hardware interaction points.
- Proven leadership in technology roadmap planning and the ability to lead and influence multi-national security teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Nice-to-have: Hands-on experience with confidential compute deployments and secure media pipeline implementations.
