SoC RTL Performance Analysis Engineer
ArmJob Title
SoC RTL Performance Analysis Engineer
Role Summary
Join Arm’s System-on-Chip (SoC) Performance Analysis Team in the Central Technology Group to build early performance-analysis platforms for SoC, CPU and IP exploration. The role focuses on RTL performance verification, emulation-based studies, workload characterization, and driving data‑led architectural improvements.
Experience Level
Mid-level.
Responsibilities
Deliver SoC-level performance verification, identify bottlenecks, and enable architectural or RTL improvements through simulation and emulation.
- Perform RTL performance analysis and verification for SoC designs.
- Define and implement SoC-level performance verification plans and debug flows.
- Bring up and drive emulation-based performance studies and run complex system-level benchmarks.
- Analyze memory-system and interconnect behavior; develop and run benchmarks in simulation/emulation.
- Debug performance failures, identify bottlenecks, and propose data-driven architectural or RTL solutions.
- Develop and improve debug infrastructure, tooling, and visualization for root-cause analysis.
- Leverage automation and AI-based tools to accelerate performance-analysis workflows.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
Key skills and experience required; listed as must-have and nice-to-have for clarity.
- Must-have: Proven experience in SoC RTL performance analysis and debug using hardware emulation platforms.
- Must-have: Hands-on emulator bring-up, configuration, and development of performance test cases.
- Must-have: Strong system-level performance debug across complex IP interactions (CPU, GPU, I/O).
- Must-have: Deep understanding of memory system architecture, interconnects, coherency, memory/I/O ordering, MMU, and cache behavior.
- Must-have: Proficient in Verilog/SystemVerilog and working knowledge of C/C++ and a scripting language (e.g., Python).
- Must-have: Strong debugging, data analysis, and technical presentation skills.
- Nice-to-have: Unix/Linux proficiency, scripting and source control experience (Git/Subversion).
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with CPU instruction sets, ARM architecture, compilers, assemblers, or device drivers.
