SoC/RTL Microarchitect Lead
Advanced Micro DevicesJob Title
SoC/RTL Microarchitect Lead
Role Summary
Lead microarchitecture teams to define SoC and IP block architectures, drive technical requirements and specifications, and ensure alignment across hardware, firmware, BIOS and software to meet product goals for performance, power, area, schedule and cost.
This senior role partners with design, verification, post-silicon, marketing and business stakeholders and mentors other architects.
Experience Level
Senior β typically 15+ years of relevant industry experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include defining microarchitecture, coordinating cross-functional architecture decisions, and guiding delivery through silicon.
- Define micro-architecture requirements and drive technical specifications for SoC and IP blocks.
- Ensure HW, firmware, BIOS and software are aligned to enable features and optimize performance and power.
- Collaborate with IP and domain architects to identify risks and develop architectural solutions.
- Perform microarchitecture analysis to identify performance bottlenecks and propose mitigations.
- Work with design teams on area, floorplan refinement, timing targets and verification sign-offs.
- Support pre-silicon activities: emulation, verification test plans and pre-Si bug resolution.
- Support post-silicon teams for performance, power and functional issue debug and resolution.
- Share knowledge within platform and system architecture and mentor team members.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed below.
- Must-have: Extensive experience leading microarchitecture for complex SoCs and driving product roadmaps.
- Must-have: Strong focus on Power, Performance and Area (PPA) trade-offs.
- Must-have: Experience coordinating across hardware, firmware, BIOS and software teams.
- Must-have: Proven cross-functional leadership, communication and presentation skills.
- Nice-to-have: Expertise in CPU/GPU, memory sub-systems, interconnects/fabrics, coherency, multimedia, I/O subsystems, clocks/resets, virtualization and security.
- Nice-to-have: Experience in microarchitectural performance analysis and power-management microarchitecture.
