SoC RTL Design Engineer - Staff
Role Summary
Staff-level SoC RTL Design Engineer responsible for designing, optimizing, verifying and supporting bring-up of complex system-on-chip hardware. Work within the ASIC/Hardware engineering team and collaborate with verification, validation, software and architecture teams to meet power, performance, area and reliability targets.
Experience Level
Senior - Staff-level role. Preferred experience: 8+ years; minimum experience expectations vary by education level (see Education Requirements).
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Plan, design, optimize, verify and test SoC and related electronic systems (digital, analog, RF, optical, FPGA, DSP) and support bring-up and yield improvement.
- Integrate complex features into RTL and ensure implementations meet power, performance and area targets.
- Perform complex simulations and analyses; implement design trade-offs for power, performance and area.
- Collaborate with design, verification, validation, software, systems and architecture teams to implement requirements and test solutions.
- Evaluate and characterize manufacturing, materials and reliability; drive automation and optimization to maximize productivity and quality.
- Produce detailed technical documentation and provide technical guidance to other engineers.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Several years of hardware/ASIC engineering experience; staff-level candidates typically have substantial domain experience (preferred 8+ years).
- Experience with RTL design and implementation for complex SoC blocks.
- Experience with schematic capture and circuit simulation tools.
- Familiarity with hardware test and measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF tools, etc.).
- Proven ability to perform simulations and optimize designs for power, performance and area.
- Experience collaborating across functions and providing technical leadership or mentorship.
Education Requirements
Requires a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering or a related technical field. The posting specifies minimum experience that varies by degree: Bachelor's +4 years, Master's +3 years, PhD +2 years. A Master's degree is listed as preferred.
