Job Title

SoC RTL Design Engineer

Role Summary

As an SoC RTL Design Engineer in Intel's Customer Solutions Engineering group, you will develop RTL, integrate IP and subsystems into full SoC designs, and support customers across architecture, implementation and post-silicon validation. The role focuses on delivering high-quality integrated RTL to meet power, performance, area and timing targets.

Work spans RTL coding, simulation, IP integration, coordinating with backend teams, and providing technical support to customers in a hybrid work model.

Experience Level

Senior. Typical guidance from employer: ~5+ years of RTL design and integration experience with a Bachelor's degree or ~3+ years with a Master's degree.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include RTL development, IP integration, verification support, and delivering FE bundles for backend implementation.

  • Develop RTL (register-transfer level) code, logic design, and simulations for SoC functional units and cell libraries.
  • Integrate IP blocks and subsystems into SoC designs while meeting power, performance, area, and timing goals.
  • Participate in defining architecture and microarchitecture features for logic components.
  • Perform RTL quality checks and optimize logic for physical implementation.
  • Execute secure development practices to address security threats and ensure design integrity.
  • Collaborate with IP providers to integrate and validate IP at the SoC level.
  • Review verification plans, resolve failing RTL tests, and support verification activities.
  • Provide IP integration support to customers and act as technical liaison for SoC solutions.
  • Ensure quality of integrated RTL and deliver front-end bundles to the backend team.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

  • Proficiency in RTL design, logic development, and SoC integration.
  • Experience with low-power design techniques and clock domain crossing.
  • Familiarity with front-end SoC quality and efficiency guardrails.
  • Knowledge of synthesis, static timing analysis (STA), and formal equivalence checking.
  • Experience debugging RTL failures and supporting verification activities.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with Soft Radio SoCs (5G/6G) or radio solutions.
  • Experience in low-power architecture, verification, and optimization techniques at the SoC level.

Education Requirements

Employer specifies a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 5+ years of RTL design and integration experience, or a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 3+ years of RTL design and integration experience.
