SOC Power Design - Staff/Sr Staff
QualcommJob Title
SOC Power Design - Staff / Sr Staff
Role Summary
Responsible for planning, designing, optimizing, verifying and testing power-related subsystems for system-on-chip (SoC) hardware. The role works with cross-functional teams (design, verification, validation, software, architecture) to integrate power features, improve yield and testability, and bring complex products to production.
Experience Level
Senior level. Typical experience guidance: 4+ years with a Bachelor's degree, 3+ years with a Master's, or 2+ years with a PhD. Preferred candidates may have 8+ years of relevant hardware engineering experience.
Responsibilities
Main responsibilities include designing and validating SoC power circuitry and bringing up production-ready hardware.
- Plan, design, optimize, verify and test power circuits and related electronic systems for SoC products.
- Integrate complex power features to meet product roadmaps and performance targets (power, performance, area).
- Perform simulations and detailed analyses; implement designs with attention to power, performance, and area tradeoffs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement requirements and improve yield, test time, and product quality.
- Evaluate and characterize manufacturing and bring-up solutions for advanced-process products.
- Assess reliability of materials and techniques; develop automation and optimization to increase productivity.
- Identify design flaws, compatibility or compliance issues and propose mitigations.
- Produce detailed technical documentation for hardware projects and test procedures.
- Provide supervision/guidance to other team members and influence technical decisions beyond the immediate group.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- Significant hardware engineering experience working on electronic systems or SoC hardware.
- Experience with circuit design and analysis (digital, analog, RF) and use of schematic capture and circuit simulation tools.
- Hands-on experience with hardware measurement and debug instruments (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF tools, etc.).
- Proven ability to work independently, make technical decisions, and provide guidance to teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey complex technical information and influence stakeholders.
- Ability to develop test solutions that improve yield and quality in production programs.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience in technical leadership roles (with or without direct reports).
- Experience with FPGA, DSP systems, advanced-process manufacturing, or RF-focused design.
- Prior work on automation, optimization, and novel manufacturing solutions for leading-edge products.
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field with corresponding experience: Bachelor's +4+ years, Master's +3+ years, or PhD +2+ years of hardware engineering or related experience. Preferred: Master's degree and extensive hardware engineering experience (examples cite 8+ years).
