Job Title

SoC Power Design - Staff

Role Summary

Lead design and verification of power-related subsystems for system-on-chip (SoC) products. Work across hardware, software and validation teams to plan, design, optimize, test and bring up power circuits, IP and production test solutions for advanced semiconductor products.

Experience Level

Senior - role expects a senior engineer; hiring typically targets candidates with substantial hardware engineering experience (preferred 8+ years; minimum experience varies by degree - see Education Requirements).

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Plan, design, optimize, verify and test complex power-related electronic systems and circuits for SoC products.
  • Integrate complex features into hardware designs to meet power, performance and area targets.
  • Perform simulations and analyses; implement designs that balance power, performance and area.
  • Collaborate with design, verification, validation, software and architecture teams to define and implement requirements and test solutions.
  • Evaluate, characterize and develop manufacturing and bring-up procedures to improve yield, test time and quality.
  • Evaluate reliability of materials and techniques; drive automation and optimization to increase productivity.
  • Prepare detailed technical documentation for complex hardware projects and provide guidance to other engineers.

Requirements

Key skills and required experience (must-have vs nice-to-have):

  • Must-have: Several years of practical hardware engineering experience with SoC or power circuitry, including hands-on circuit design, verification and bring-up.
  • Must-have: Experience using schematic-capture and circuit-simulation tools and interpreting simulation results.
  • Must-have: Experience with hardware measurement instruments (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF tools) and lab bring-up.
  • Must-have: Ability to work independently, document technical work, and influence cross-functional teams.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with FPGA/DSP systems, RF or optical subsystems, and automated test or characterization flows.
  • Nice-to-have: Prior technical leadership experience (mentoring or leading projects) and experience optimizing manufacturing/yield for advanced process nodes.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering or a related field (with typically 4+ years of hardware engineering experience), OR Master's degree in those fields (typically 3+ years), OR PhD in those fields (typically 2+ years). Equivalent practical experience is acceptable per the posting. Preferred: Master's degree and 8+ years of hardware engineering experience.
