Job Title
SoC Power and Performance Architect
Role Summary
Architect end-to-end SoC power, performance, timing and area solutions across product lifecycles and market segments. The role defines microarchitecture, integrates IP, and drives cross-functional delivery with architects, design, system and verification engineers to meet performance and power targets.
Experience Level
Senior. Typical experience expectations in this posting: B.S. + 8+ years, Master's + 5+ years, or PhD + 3+ years.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include architecture definition, integration, modeling, and verification to meet power and performance goals.
- Define and drive end-to-end SoC architecture, including firmware, hardware, and platform specifications for scalable, modular SoCs.
- Set and deliver on functionality, connectivity, configuration, performance, timing, power, and area targets.
- Evaluate and integrate existing IP blocks and specify any required glue logic or gaskets.
- Invent and specify microarchitectural features for next-generation products across segments (HPC to low-power).
- Develop tests, test plans, and modeling/simulation infrastructure; analyze results for benchmarking and improvement using statistical methods.
- Provide experimental/proof-of-concept changes and tradeoff analysis to meet constraints.
- Review and influence cross-functional roadmaps and technology targets for future SoCs.
- Collaborate with architects, design, system, and verification teams to resolve constraints and improve SoC designs.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, engineering practices, and behaviors for successful performance in this role.
Must-have:
- Advanced understanding of SoC behavior and power/performance modeling.
- Experience with power and performance studies, power management optimizations, and post-silicon validation and debugging.
- Advanced knowledge of architecture, RTL, structural design, validation, and post-silicon processes including bug resolution.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to operate independently.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to influence cross-functional teams.
Preferred / Nice-to-have:
- Experience with Python or other scripting languages and development of analysis tools and flows.
- Familiarity with LLM engineering workflows and automation tool development.
- Experience with Intel IPs and full product development lifecycles.
- Expertise in system-level power/performance analysis, tradeoffs, and reduction techniques.
- Background in high-performance computing, graphics, or AI accelerator architectures.
- Understanding of semiconductor physics and process technology impacts on power and performance.
- Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional technical initiatives and contribute to roadmap and competitive analysis.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field with ~8+ years' relevant experience; OR Master's (M.Sc./MS) in electrical or computer engineering or related field with ~5+ years' experience; OR PhD in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field with ~3+ years' experience. The posting allows related technical fields; equivalent practical experience is considered in lieu of degree-specific wording.
