SOC Platform Architect
QualcommJob Title
SOC Platform Architect
Role Summary
Member of the Infrastructure IP team responsible for defining deployment specifications and strategy for SoC infrastructure hardware IP (interconnect, caches, memory controllers, system MMU) used in Qualcomm SoCs. The role partners with hardware architects, domain leads, and cross-functional teams to deliver robust platform infrastructure for next-generation ARM-based and other architectures.
Work spans system-level architecture, HW/SW trade-offs, and coordinating the end-to-end silicon design flow from specification through implementation, verification, validation, and documentation.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Position expects experienced ASIC/SoC engineers — typical experience expectations are 4+ years with a Bachelor's degree or 2+ years with a Master's degree (see Education Requirements for details).
Responsibilities
Deliver and coordinate platform infrastructure IP plans and ensure alignment with product requirements.
- Gather and define deployment specifications and strategy for SoC infrastructure IP in partnership with HW architects.
- Coordinate with domain leads to produce a robust infrastructure deployment plan based on product requirements.
- Contribute to system-level architecture for interconnect (NoC), system cache, memory controllers, and system MMU.
- Evaluate HW–SW feature trade-offs and define interfaces to firmware/software teams.
- Support the full silicon HW flow including design handoff, verification, implementation, and documentation.
- Participate in validation and post-silicon debug activities as required.
- Communicate design decisions and status clearly to cross-functional stakeholders.
Requirements
Core technical and professional qualifications (degree details summarized in Education Requirements).
- Proven experience in ASIC design, verification, or related ASIC/SoC engineering work.
- Robust understanding of computer architecture and system-level design.
- Familiarity with end-to-end ASIC design flows and silicon development lifecycle.
- Knowledge of SoC infrastructure IP: NoC, system MMU, caches, and memory controller concepts.
- Exposure to interconnect protocols and industry-standard IO/device protocols.
- Experience with scripting or programming languages used for automation.
- Strong communication skills and ability to adapt to changing technical requirements.
- Preferred: experience with QoS, clocks, power management, security and debug architectures, HW–SW interfaces/firmware, and post-silicon validation/debug flows.
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field. Typical experience expectation with this degree is 4+ years of ASIC design, verification, or related work. Alternate: Master's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field with typically 2+ years of relevant ASIC experience. Fields cited are general Science/Engineering disciplines; the posting does not list a specific discipline-exclusive requirement.
