Job Title

SoC Modeling Engineer

Role Summary

Support the SoC Architecture team by building and validating models of physical and performance aspects of SoC operation. Work covers electrical, thermal, power-delivery, and traffic modeling, plus automation of simulation and exploration workflows.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Candidates typically have relevant ASIC/SoC design, verification, validation, or integration experience (see Requirements and Education Requirements for specifics).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include modeling, simulation, and analysis to inform SoC architecture and design decisions.

  • Develop and run behavioral and circuit-level models (MatLab/Simulink or equivalent).
  • Create and automate SPICE and transistor-level simulations for components and devices.
  • Model thermal behavior and power-delivery networks (PMIC, PDN) for SoC designs.
  • Model SoC traffic patterns and system-level performance under realistic workloads.
  • Work with RTL, gate-level, and transistor-level digital representations to verify performance and power interactions.
  • Automate simulation flows and exploration of design parameter spaces.
  • Communicate results clearly to architecture and design teams; prepare presentations and documentation.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; see Education Requirements for degree-related guidance.

  • Hands-on experience with MatLab/SimuLink or equivalent modeling tools.
  • Practical experience running SPICE simulations at component and device level.
  • Experience modeling electrical systems, circuits, and transistor-level behavior.
  • Experience modeling thermal systems and power-delivery circuits (PMIC/PDN).
  • Familiarity with digital design at RTL and gate/transistor levels.
  • Experience automating simulation workflows and exploring design/execution spaces.
  • Ability to work independently and under supervision; strong organization, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Relevant ASIC/SoC design, verification, validation, integration, or related engineering experience. (See Education Requirements for degree/experience combinations.)
  • Nice-to-have: Knowledge of AI/Machine Learning, computer architecture, or queueing theory.

Education Requirements

Degree preferred: MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related technical field. Minimum acceptable: Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field. The posting specifies degree-plus-experience options: Bachelor's with ~2+ years relevant experience, Master's with ~1+ year relevant experience, or PhD (no additional experience requirement listed). Related or equivalent technical experience in ASIC/SoC domains may also be considered.
