Job Title
SoC/IP Architect
Role Summary
Design and define system-on-chip (SoC) architecture and IP integration for complex mixed-signal microcontroller units (MCUs). Work with analog and digital design teams to set performance, power and area (PPA) targets, select and integrate IP blocks, and validate architecture decisions through modeling and prototyping.
Role includes hands-on RTL and verification work, coordination of silicon bring-up activities, and participation in cross-functional design reviews.
Experience Level
Senior — requires 8+ years of experience in SoC architecture, IP design, or chip development.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include system architecture, IP selection and integration, and cross-disciplinary delivery of production chips.
- Define and document SoC architecture, system topology, IP selection, and integration strategy for mixed-signal MCUs.
- Establish and drive PPA (performance, power, area) targets and trade-offs.
- Design and optimize interconnect architectures and memory hierarchy to maximize throughput and eliminate bottlenecks.
- Perform hardware–software partitioning and create architectural models/simulations to validate early design decisions.
- Select, customize, and integrate processor cores, memory controllers, DSPs, accelerators, and peripherals; define IP specifications and ensure reusability and scalability.
- Implement multi-domain power management strategies and design security-aware architectures (secure boot, isolation mechanisms).
- Perform RTL coding, simulation, synthesis, timing closure, verification, evaluation and debugging of high-speed communication and digital/analog interface circuits.
- Support early software bring-up, prepare test methods/specifications, application notes, data sheets and demo boards, and participate in design and validation reviews.
- Collaborate with RTL design, verification, physical design, software teams and customers to ensure feasibility and successful implementation.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience required for success in this role.
- 8+ years of experience in SoC architecture or chip development, with hands-on SoC integration experience.
- Proven track record of successful chip tape-outs and silicon bring-up.
- Experience with RTL design, verification, synthesis, timing closure, and debugging for high-speed communication chips.
- Experience setting and meeting PPA targets for production chips.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills; experience supporting system-level validation and software bring-up.
- Ability to create and use architectural models and perform performance trade-off studies.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree specified. No specific field of study or certifications are listed in the posting.
