SoC Infrastructure Architect
QualcommJob Title
SoC Infrastructure Architect
Role Summary
Define hardware architecture for next-generation SoC infrastructure IPs (Interconnect/NOC, System MMU, caches, memory controllers and related subsystems) and drive feature trade-offs across hardware, firmware and software teams. Work within a multi-disciplinary infrastructure IP team to produce silicon-ready architecture and ensure HW-SW interfaces are developer-friendly.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Typical experience expectation: roughly 3–7 years in relevant systems or architecture roles (see Education Requirements for degree-to-experience mappings provided by the employer).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include defining architecture, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and validating performance and implementation.
- Define SoC infrastructure HW architecture (NOC, SMMU, caches, memory controllers, interrupts) from product requirements.
- Specify HW–SW interfaces and firmware requirements to enable software-friendly designs.
- Evaluate HW/SW feature trade-offs including QoS, clocks, power management, security and debug.
- Perform performance modeling, validation and drive requirements into RTL and design flow teams.
- Collaborate with system, platform and silicon teams on multi-die / chiplet and die-to-die link architectures.
- Communicate architecture decisions clearly to engineering and product stakeholders.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
- Hands-on experience with multi-die / chiplet architectures and die-to-die / chip-to-chip links.
- Strong knowledge of industry interconnect protocols and I/O device protocols.
- Deep understanding of SoC infrastructure IP architecture (NOC, SMMU, caches).
- Experience with QoS, clocking, power management, security and debug architectures and their software interfaces.
- Familiarity with HW–SW interfaces and firmware development.
- Experience with performance modeling, validation, RTL design and full silicon design flow.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to adapt to changing requirements.
Nice-to-have
- Experience with PCIe, CXL, USB, UFS, MIPI, UCIe and other industry standards.
- Knowledge of ARM platform architecture and advanced ARM technologies (security, RAS, MPAM, memory tagging).
- Experience with data science / machine learning or functional safety.
Education Requirements
One of the following: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (required with 4+ years of systems engineering or related experience); OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (with 3+ years of related experience); OR PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (with 2+ years of related experience). Related-field and equivalent practical experience language is accepted per the employer's minimum-qualification options.
