Job Title
SoC Failure Analysis Engineering Program Manager
Role Summary
Lead operational execution of failure analysis (FA) for Apple silicon across sites. Coordinate cross-site FA labs, define FA processes and workflows, manage sample logistics and tooling, and partner with design, validation, and foundry teams to drive debug from failure signature to root cause and resolution.
Experience Level
Senior-level (posting indicates senior role). See Education Requirements for stated experience baseline.
Responsibilities
Accountable for FA program delivery, operational performance, and cross-functional execution supporting silicon debug and product launch milestones.
- Participate in bench-level functional debug on validation boards and sockets and coordinate advanced FA techniques to isolate faults across analog, mixed-signal, and digital ICs.
- Define, document, and improve FA intake, triage, prioritization, escalation, and closure workflows across sites.
- Coordinate cross-functional debug efforts with Design, Product Engineering, DFT, Reliability, Validation, and Foundry teams to drive yield and performance improvements.
- Build and maintain FA knowledge base: failure signature libraries, debug playbooks, and lessons-learned repositories; lead structured retrospectives.
- Manage sample lifecycle logistics, EFA tool scheduling, cross-site and vendor coordination.
- Define and track operational KPIs (turnaround time, throughput, tool utilization) for capacity planning and lab reporting.
Requirements
Must-have technical and program-management capabilities required to run FA programs effectively. Preferred items are listed separately.
- Proven semiconductor industry background with progression from hands-on technical FA, silicon debug, validation, or product engineering into program/project management.
- Ability to coordinate FA techniques and debug activities at a program-driver level for faults such as leakage, opens/shorts, high resistance, and weak transistors.
- Working familiarity with bench-level electrical verification and fault isolation methods.
- Working knowledge of VLSI circuit design, manufacturing, packaging, and chip validation processes for advanced nodes (5nm and below).
- Experience coordinating cross-site teams, external vendors, and lab managers to meet product and launch timelines.
Nice-to-have:
- Operational experience implementing knowledge management systems, playbooks, or process redesign that improved TAT, throughput, or yield.
- Hands-on or management-level familiarity with EMMI, LVP, DLS, Nano-Probing, and FIB.
- Experience supporting SoC functional verification, characterization, sample prep, advanced packaging, or PD/STA discussions.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science (BS) required as stated in the posting; the role also specifies a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. The posting did not require a specific field of study or list alternate degree titles.
