SOC Engineering, Senior Manager (DFT)

Role Summary

Lead and manage a Design-for-Testability (DFT) engineering team within SOC Engineering to define and deliver DFT strategy, implementation, and sign-off for SoC projects.

Work cross-functionally with RTL designers, verification, physical design, and product teams to ensure testability, producibility, and timely delivery of tapeout-ready designs.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities for this role include:

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of DFT engineers; allocate resources and manage priorities across multiple projects.
• Define and drive DFT strategy and implementation for SoC designs, including scan insertion, ATPG, BIST, and test compression techniques.
• Coordinate with RTL, verification, physical design, and product teams to integrate test features and meet schedule and quality targets.
• Oversee DFT sign-off activities, debug test failures, and ensure silicon bring-up readiness.
• Establish and enforce DFT flows, best practices, and quality metrics; improve automation and tooling where appropriate.
• Represent the team in project planning, design reviews, and cross-functional status updates with stakeholders.

• Must-have: Proven experience leading DFT teams or projects in SOC or ASIC development; strong knowledge of DFT methodologies such as scan, ATPG, BIST, and test compression.
• Must-have: Hands-on experience with DFT flows, test sign-off, debug of failing test patterns, and collaboration with RTL/PD/verification teams.
• Must-have: Strong leadership, project management, and cross-functional communication skills.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with industry DFT tools and flows, scripting/automation experience, and prior work on large SoC projects.
