SoC DFT Intern - Summer 2027
NXP SemiconductorsJob Title
SoC DFT Intern - Summer 2027
Role Summary
Join the Digital Design – DFT team to support implementation and verification of Design-for-Test methodologies for SoC projects. The intern will work with engineers on scan insertion, ATPG, MBIST, and related test flows and automation.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship (student intern). Intended for current students returning to school after the internship; no specific years of professional experience required.
Responsibilities
Work under engineer/manager supervision to support DFT activities across the design and test flow.
- Assist with implementation of DFT techniques (scan insertion, boundary scan, memory BIST).
- Support ATPG pattern generation, validation, and test coverage analysis.
- Debug test patterns and analyze test failures.
- Collaborate with RTL designers and verification teams to meet testability requirements.
- Automate DFT flows and tasks using scripting (Python/Perl/TCL).
- Document DFT methodologies, test plans, and results.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and professional qualities.
- Strong understanding of digital logic design and VLSI fundamentals.
- Familiarity with Verilog or VHDL and with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or TCL.
- Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a team.
Nice-to-have:
- Exposure to DFT concepts (scan chains, ATPG, BIST) and experience with EDA tools (Synopsys, Cadence, Mentor).
- Coursework or project experience in DFT or digital IC design; knowledge of STA, synthesis, or RTL verification.
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments.
Education Requirements
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. Candidates must be returning to school or graduating at the conclusion of the internship term (summer 2027); if graduating before July 2027, apply to entry-level full-time roles.
