SOC DFT Intern - Spring 2027
NXP SemiconductorsJob Title
SOC DFT Intern - Spring 2027
Role Summary
Internship supporting the Digital Design – DFT team to implement and validate design-for-test solutions for SoC projects. The role involves hands-on work with scan insertion, ATPG, MBIST, test coverage analysis, and related automation.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship. Candidates must be currently enrolled and returning to school or graduating at the conclusion of the internship term (spring 2027 eligibility stated).
Responsibilities
Work with engineers on DFT implementation and test validation for digital SoC designs.
- Assist in implementing DFT techniques: scan insertion, boundary scan, memory BIST.
- Support ATPG pattern generation and validation using industry tools.
- Perform test coverage analysis and debug failing test patterns.
- Collaborate with RTL designers and verification teams to meet testability requirements.
- Contribute to automation of DFT flows using scripting languages (Python, Perl, TCL).
- Document DFT methodologies, test plans, and results.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and abilities for the internship role.
- Strong understanding of digital logic design and VLSI fundamentals.
- Familiarity with Verilog or VHDL.
- Experience with scripting (Python, Perl, or TCL) for automation.
- Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Exposure to DFT concepts (scan chains, ATPG, BIST).
- Experience with EDA tools from Synopsys, Cadence, or Mentor Graphics.
- Coursework or project experience in DFT or digital IC design; knowledge of STA, synthesis, RTL verification.
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments.
Education Requirements
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. Must be returning to school or graduating at the conclusion of the internship term (applicants graduating prior to May 2027 should apply to entry-level full-time roles).
