SoC Design Verification Senior Lead Engineer
QualcommJob Title
SoC Design Verification Senior Lead Engineer
Role Summary
Lead verification activities for SoC/IP blocks, define verification scope, develop and execute test plans, and deliver robust verification infrastructure and results. Work within the ASIC/SoC verification team and collaborate with architects, designers, and pre- and post-silicon teams.
Experience Level
Senior - typically 8+ years of experience in ASIC/SoC verification; minimum experience expectations vary by degree and role level.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include planning and executing verification, building verification infrastructure, and collaborating across teams to close issues.
- Define verification scope from design specifications and create verification plans and test strategies.
- Develop and run directed and constrained-random tests at IP and SoC levels.
- Implement and analyze SystemVerilog assertions and coverage (code, toggle, functional).
- Build and maintain UVM-based testbenches and verification infrastructure.
- Integrate and validate third-party VIP and vendor tools; use simulators and waveform analyzers for debug.
- Collaborate with architects, RTL designers, and silicon validation teams to reproduce and resolve issues.
- Follow verification best practices and quality standards; drive root-cause analysis and regression closure.
Requirements
Key technical skills and domain experience required or strongly preferred.
- Must-have: Extensive hands-on experience with SystemVerilog and UVM for verification at IP and SoC levels.
- Must-have: Strong debugging, problem solving, and analytical skills; experience with simulators (e.g., VCS) and waveform analysis.
- Must-have: Experience integrating third-party VIP (for example Synopsys VIPs) and working in mixed-language environments (Verilog/SystemVerilog/C/C++).
- Must-have: Practical knowledge of SoC verification flows and ASIC design concepts.
- Nice-to-have: Prior work with UFS, Ethernet, and PCIe protocols.
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with AXI/AMBA protocol variants.
- Nice-to-have: Scripting experience (shell, Makefile, Perl) for automation and test infrastructure.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional verification and design environment.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Science, Engineering or related field (examples: B.E./B.Tech, M.E./M.Tech in Electronics) with degree-dependent minimum experience - e.g., Bachelor's +4+ years, Master's +3+ years, PhD +2+ years; the posting also cites roles expecting ~8+ years. Equivalent practical experience is accepted where indicated.
