SoC Design Verification Engineer — Staff
QualcommJob Title
SoC Design Verification Engineer — Staff
Role Summary
Responsible for defining, modeling, designing, and verifying IP blocks and SoC components for high-performance, low-power ASIC products. Works within the ASIC/ASICS engineering team and collaborates with cross-functional groups to develop implementation strategies and deliver silicon-quality IP.
Works independently, provides guidance to other engineers, and influences technical decisions across the organization.
Experience Level
Senior (Staff) level. See Education Requirements for degree-linked experience guidance.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Define, model, optimize, verify, validate, and implement IP (block/SoC) designs.
- Create architectures, circuit specifications, logic designs, and system simulations from system requirements.
- Collaborate with software/hardware architects, product management, and program management to execute implementation strategies.
- Evaluate design flows from high-level design to synthesis, place-and-route, timing and power analysis, and verification; or similarly for custom circuit/layout flow.
- Utilize EDA tools and flows (for example, RTL-to-GDS, Virtuoso) to deliver complex blocks, SoCs, or IC packages.
- Write and review detailed technical documentation for EDA/IP/ASIC projects.
- Provide supervision and technical guidance to other team members and communicate complex information to stakeholders and leadership.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Proven ASIC design and verification experience on complex digital and/or analog blocks.
- Practical experience with design verification methodologies and flows.
- Experience with architecture and design tools.
- Proficiency with scripting and programming languages used for automation and verification.
- Familiarity with RTL-to-GDS flow, place-and-route, timing and power analysis, or custom circuit/layout flows.
- Strong problem-solving, planning, and written/verbal communication skills; able to work independently and influence decisions.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience interacting with senior leadership and influencing technical direction.
- Experience leading or mentoring other engineers.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field with 4+ years of ASIC design/verification/validation/integration experience; OR Master's degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field with 3+ years; OR PhD in Science, Engineering, or a related field with 2+ years. Preferred fields include Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
