SoC Design Verification Engineer
Intel CorporationJob Title
SoC Design Verification Engineer
Role Summary
The SoC Design Verification Engineer is responsible for planning and executing functional verification for complex System-on-Chip designs. The role designs scalable verification plans, builds UVM-based test environments and testbenches, runs presilicon validation including emulation and simulation, and drives root-cause analysis to improve product quality.
This position sits within Intel's product development team focused on advanced semiconductor solutions and requires regular collaboration with architects, RTL developers, postsilicon and physical design teams.
Experience Level
Senior β typically 7+ years of relevant SoC design verification experience for candidates with a Bachelor's degree, or 6+ years with a Master's degree.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include creating verification infrastructure, executing verification plans, and collaborating across disciplines to identify and resolve design issues.
- Design and update UVM/OVM-based testbenches and create verification test cases.
- Define and develop scalable, reusable block, subsystem, and SoC verification plans.
- Create verification environments aligned with microarchitecture specifications.
- Execute verification plans using emulation and system simulation to validate functionality and find bugs.
- Debug and perform root-cause analysis in presilicon environments; implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with architects, RTL, postsilicon, and physical design teams to verify complex architectural features.
- Document and maintain test plans and drive technical reviews with design and architecture teams.
- Integrate security coverage activities into regression and debug tests.
- Maintain and improve functional verification infrastructure and methodologies; incorporate postsilicon feedback into presilicon strategies.
Requirements
Required technical skills and proven hands-on experience for successful execution of the role.
Must-have
- Strong experience with UVM/OVM methodologies and writing reusable verification components.
- Hands-on experience creating and maintaining UVM-based testbenches and test-case frameworks.
- Familiarity with AMBA protocols (CHI, AXI, AHB, APB) and experience using industry VIP from EDA vendors.
- Experience with emulation and system simulation for functional validation and performance analysis.
- Proven debugging and presilicon root-cause analysis skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across architecture, RTL, postsilicon, and physical design teams and to document verification work.
Nice-to-have
- Experience with postsilicon validation and incorporating postsilicon learnings into presilicon plans.
- Familiarity with emulation models and system simulation tools focused on performance and system-level behavior.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (typically with 7+ years of relevant SoC design verification experience), OR Master's degree in those fields (typically with 6+ years of relevant experience). No certifications were specified.
