SOC Design Verification Engineer
AppleJob Title
SOC Design Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Work on pre-silicon RTL verification for Apple's wireless SOCs. Own verification scope across block, subsystem, and full SOC levels and collaborate with architects, designers, firmware, and systems teams.
Focus areas include reusable UVM testbenches, coverage-driven methodology, low-power verification (UPF), formal methods, and applying AI-assisted verification techniques to improve productivity.
Experience Level
Senior - requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include test planning, testbench development, verification, and coverage closure:
- Create detailed verification plans from specifications and partner with architects and designers early.
- Develop reusable block/IP and subsystem-level UVM testbenches and support SOC integration.
- Write directed and constrained-random tests; define and drive coverage models to closure.
- Debug functional and corner-case failures and manage bug resolution.
- Verify low-power intent using UPF within assigned scope.
- Verify end-to-end Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth flows up to top-level SOC integration.
- Apply formal verification where appropriate and build automated regression flows.
- Explore and apply AI-assisted verification for test generation, debug, and coverage closure.
- Participate in verification reviews, uphold coding and quality standards, and support post-silicon bring-up.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Hands-on experience across the verification cycle: test planning, testbench implementation, test creation, debug, and coverage closure.
- Strong SystemVerilog and Verilog skills and solid working knowledge of UVM.
- Solid problem-solving and debugging skills with constrained-random verification.
- Understanding of digital logic design, SoC architecture, and microarchitecture.
- Experience with formal tools and SystemVerilog Assertions (SVA) is beneficial.
- Scripting experience (Python or Perl) and familiarity with embedded CPU verification, C/C++, or assembly are preferred.
- Experience with PCIe, bus fabric/NOC, AHB/AXI architectures, low-power verification practices, boot sequencing, or wireless SOC verification is a plus.
Education Requirements
BS degree required. The posting specifies a minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience. No specific field of study or certifications were listed.
