SoC Design Implementation Engineer
QualcommJob Title
SoC Design Implementation Engineer
Role Summary
Implement RTL into gate-level SoC designs, focusing on performance, power, area, testability and timing closure. Collaborate with design, DFT and physical design teams to prepare blocks for sign‑off and tapeout.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Typical candidates have 3+ years of relevant hardware engineering experience.
Responsibilities
Execute and validate implementation flows, ensure timing and functional correctness, and support cross-functional integration.
- Perform RTL synthesis and optimize for performance, power, and area.
- Insert DFT (MBIST, SCAN) and validate test modes and associated constraints.
- Set up and run sign‑off static timing analysis (STA) and perform ECO flows to achieve timing closure.
- Run static low‑power checks on gate‑level netlists and support low‑power validation.
- Verify logic equivalency between RTL and gate-level representations and perform gates‑to‑gates checks.
- Debug timing/constraints issues and collaborate with Design, DFT, and PD teams to resolve implementation problems.
Requirements
Technical skills and hands-on experience required for successful execution of the role.
- Practical experience with RTL synthesis tool flows and optimization techniques.
- Experience implementing DFT and test insertion methodologies (MBIST/SCAN).
- Proficiency with static timing analysis and STA tools; experience with ECO flows.
- Experience with logic equivalency checking and gate‑level validation.
- Familiarity with low‑power checks and validation at the gate level.
- Strong debugging skills for timing constraints and cross‑team communication.
Education Requirements
Minimum qualifications as stated: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field plus 4+ years of hardware engineering experience; OR Master's degree in those fields plus 3+ years; OR PhD in those fields plus 2+ years.
