Job Title

SOC Design Implementation Engineer

Role Summary

Implement and sign off SoC blocks by performing RTL-to-gates synthesis, DFT insertion, static timing analysis and gate-level checks. Work on implementation flows to meet performance, power, area and test goals and collaborate with design, DFT and physical design teams to resolve issues.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typical guidance: requires 1–2+ years of hardware or related engineering experience (see Education Requirements for degree-based minimums).

Responsibilities

Main responsibilities include:

  • Perform RTL synthesis to meet performance, power and area targets.
  • Insert DFT (MBIST, scan) and set up timing constraints for functional and test modes.
  • Run static low-power checks on gate-level netlists.
  • Perform logic equivalency checks (RTL-to-gates and gates-to-gates).
  • Set up signoff static timing analysis (STA), run ECO flows and achieve timing closure.
  • Use STA tools for detailed timing analysis and constraints debugging.
  • Work with Design, DFT and Physical Design teams to resolve timing and implementation issues.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and practical experience:

  • Hands-on experience in RTL synthesis and signoff flows.
  • Experience with DFT insertion (MBIST, scan) and test-mode constraint setup.
  • Proficiency with static timing analysis, STA tools, ECO flows and timing closure.
  • Experience running low-power static checks and gate-level verification.
  • Familiarity with logic equivalence checking tools and flows.
  • Ability to debug constraints and perform sanity checks on implementation results.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field with 2+ years of hardware engineering experience; OR Master's degree in those fields with 1+ year of hardware engineering experience; OR PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field.
