SoC Design and Integration Engineer
QualcommJob Title
SoC Design and Integration Engineer
Role Summary
Member of an SoC design team responsible for RTL architecture, design integration, verification, and flows for high-performance ASICs (mobile, AI, compute, XR) in advanced process nodes.
Work includes defining architecture, implementing RTL, integrating IP, running system simulations, and improving design flows and automation.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Typical candidates have around 5β10 years of ASIC/SoC design experience; the posting also lists minimum alternatives that accept less experience depending on degree.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include executing SoC architecture and design tasks and improving design flows.
- Implement and integrate RTL for SoC components and IP cores following project protocols.
- Develop and execute verification and validation strategies for ASICs and SoCs.
- Troubleshoot architecture, design, and verification issues using sound ASIC engineering practices.
- Participate in design analyses, code reviews, and IP reviews.
- Develop scripts and tools to automate flows and improve productivity.
- Provide silicon feedback to process, design methodology, IP and SoC teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items listed separately.
- Must-have: Several years of ASIC design experience covering RTL, integration, verification, or validation and SoC-level work.
- Must-have: Proficiency with scripting and automation to improve design flows (e.g., Python, Perl, TCL).
- Must-have: Experience with SoC design methodologies, system simulation, and debugging silicon/bring-up results.
- Must-have: Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills in cross-functional teams.
- Nice-to-have: FPGA design experience, experience developing design tools, familiarity with IC Compiler, PCIe, low-level languages (C, assembly).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field is expected (MS preferred). The posting allows alternatives: Master's degree with reduced experience requirements or a PhD; equivalent practical experience may be acceptable per the listed minimum-qualification alternatives.
