Job Title
SoC Chip Lead / Design Manager
Role Summary
Own end-to-end delivery of the first T28 industrial ASIC for the MSP M33 Data Center business. Combine full-chip technical ownership with leadership of a multi-discipline design team to ensure first-time-right silicon, scalable architecture, and production readiness.
Work spans specification, architecture, RTL, place-and-route, verification, pre- and post-silicon validation, and cross-functional coordination with firmware, product and production teams.
Experience Level
Senior β 12+ years of experience in complex SoC/ASIC development with leadership experience across multiple SoC domains.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities include leading SoC execution, cross-functional coordination, and team growth:
- Own SoC execution from specification through architecture, RTL, silicon, and mass production.
- Serve as single technical owner (Chip Lead) for the first T28 industrial ASIC.
- Drive performance, power, area (PPA), quality, cost, and schedule trade-offs.
- Lead and coordinate RTL, design verification (DV), DFT, physical design (PD), and validation activities.
- Interface with architecture, IP, firmware/software, product, business, and production engineering teams.
- Responsible for pre-silicon sign-off and post-silicon bring-up and validation.
- Build, mentor, and grow the design organization; balance hands-on technical leadership with people management.
- Ensure high-quality micro-architecture, RTL coding standards, reuse, and integration.
Requirements
Must-have technical and leadership qualifications:
- Extensive end-to-end SoC lifecycle experience including RTL, place-and-route, and timing closure.
- Strong expertise in ARM-based systems, interconnects, low-power design, and clock/reset/power architecture.
- Proven pre- and post-silicon debug skills with multiple successful tape-outs.
- Experience balancing PPA, quality, cost, and schedule decisions.
- Demonstrated cross-team communication and leadership skills; responsibility for multi-discipline execution.
- Leadership experience across multiple SoC domains.
Nice-to-have:
- Prior Chip Lead or SoC Lead role.
- Experience with first-silicon programs or new-node processes (T28).
- Industrial SoC product experience and post-silicon yield learning.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent; or equivalent practical experience.
