SOC Architecture
Role Summary
Work on SoC infrastructure IP architecture and deployment planning for platform components such as interconnect (NoC), system cache, memory controllers and system MMU. Collaborate with hardware architects and cross-functional domain leads to define specs, trade-offs, and implementation strategy for next-generation SoC infrastructure.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Typical experience requirements listed: 4+ years with a Bachelor’s degree or 2+ years with a Master’s degree (see Education Requirements).
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include system-level architecture, specification, and coordination for infrastructure IP on Qualcomm SoCs.
- Define and document deployment specifications and architecture for SoC infrastructure IP (NoC, SMMU, caches, memory controllers).
- Collaborate with HW architects, domain leads, and cross-functional teams to translate product requirements into IP deployment plans.
- Perform system-level trade-off analysis between HW and SW features (performance, power, security, QoS).
- Drive design, verification, and validation strategies; participate in end-to-end ASIC design flow discussions.
- Support integration planning and handoff to RTL, firmware, and silicon debug teams.
- Provide technical guidance for automation and tooling where needed.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and attributes.
- Robust understanding of computer architecture and system-level design.
- Familiarity with ASIC design flows and SoC infrastructure IP concepts.
- Knowledge of NoC/interconnect, system caches, SMMU, and memory subsystem architecture.
- Exposure to interconnect protocols and standard IO device protocols.
- Experience with a programming language or scripting for automation.
- Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate across teams.
- Adaptable to changing technical requirements and schedules.
- Nice-to-have: Exposure to QoS, clocking, power management, security and debug architectures; firmware/HW-SW interface experience; post-silicon validation and debug experience.
Education Requirements
Qualifications specify either: a Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field plus 4+ years of ASIC design/verification or related experience; OR a Master's degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field plus 2+ years of ASIC design/verification or related experience. Equivalency language for relevant experience is not specified beyond these degree+experience options.
