Job Title

SoC Architect

Role Summary

The SoC Architect will define and drive system-on-chip architecture and requirements for d-Matrix's AI compute products, partnering with RTL/DV, software, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance, power-efficient silicon. The role focuses on hardware-software co-design, architectural exploration, performance modeling, and roadmap decisions across memory, interconnect, packaging, thermal and compute subsystems.

Join the AI Architecture team to lead technical decisions that shape product performance and enable efficient deployment of deep learning workloads.

Experience Level

Senior — expects 5+ years of relevant experience leading SoC architecture or design development and demonstrated technical leadership in compute architecture.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include architecture definition, workload analysis, modeling, and cross-team delivery.

  • Lead definition and delivery of SoC requirements and overall architecture to meet product goals.
  • Analyze AI workloads (transformers, CNNs, RNNs) to identify bottlenecks and architecture opportunities.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate efficient DNN architectures and algorithms targeted at the compute engine.
  • Drive hardware/software co-design for SIMD engine, control plane, data reshape/convertor blocks, NoC and related substrates.
  • Perform performance projection, modeling, correlation and debug for current (Corsair I/II) and next-generation products.
  • Develop and maintain high-level simulation and research tools for architectural exploration.
  • Engage in kernel development and networking fabric enhancements to support system objectives.
  • Collaborate with software teams to meet stack development milestones and produce reference implementations.
  • Port and optimize customer workloads, evaluate performance, and present results to stakeholders.
  • Report progress, contribute to publications and establish intellectual property where applicable.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items are listed separately.

  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience leading architecture or design development of SoCs.
  • Expert knowledge of AI SoC architecture, system-level requirements, and technology trade-offs.
  • Experience with CPU, GPU, ASIC and ML accelerator architecture exploration and architectural modeling.
  • High proficiency in performance modeling, from analytical models to cycle-accurate models and correlation.
  • Deep, current knowledge of machine learning and modern deep learning techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with CNN, RNN and Transformer neural network architectures.
  • Strong algorithm analysis and data-structure skills; high proficiency in Python. C/C++ proficiency preferred.
  • Proven problem solver and self-starter able to simplify complex problems and provide practical solutions.

Education Requirements

MS in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a related scientific discipline is stated as the minimum; a PhD in those fields is listed as preferred. The posting expects 5+ years of relevant compute architecture and system design experience. (Fields mentioned: Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, related scientific disciplines.)
