SoC Architect
AmbiqJob Title
SoC Architect
Role Summary
Join Ambiq's Singapore office as the primary on-site Architecture lead for low-power SoCs focused on audio, imaging/display, and high-speed/general-purpose interfaces. You will define subsystem architecture, drive IP selection and power/performance modeling, and coordinate across hardware, firmware, software, and product teams to deliver shipping products.
Experience Level
Senior β typically 8+ years of IP/MCU architecture or SoC design experience.
Responsibilities
Provide architecture leadership for Ambiq's Singapore team and the subsystems the team owns.
- Create architecture specifications: block diagrams, sequences, power/performance models, pseudocode, and external power-management interfaces.
- Engage with customers and product/marketing to align features and competitive positioning.
- Support use-case and test-case development and subsystem bring-up on FPGA.
- Collaborate with software architecture on data/control flows, APIs, and HALs.
- Partner with physical design and implementation teams to ensure robust, low-power designs.
- Debug RTL and gate-level issues; support post-silicon analysis and mass-production delivery.
Requirements
Core qualifications and skills required or strongly preferred.
- Minimum 8+ years of IP/MCU development or similar architecture and design experience targeting wearable, IoT, or mobile products.
- Deep knowledge of SoC subsystems and external interfaces: audio (I2S/PDM), imaging/display (MIPI CSI/DSI), and serial/peripheral links (USB, SPI, I2C).
- Proven track record bringing low-power architectures to market; experience with embedded imaging or neural-network processing is highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of SoC architecture, fabric/interconnect, power management, and advanced process nodes.
- Experience with system-level dataflows and modeling to guide hardware and software co-design.
- Strong systems-level thinking, ability to make trade-offs across HW/SW boundaries, and to build consensus across distributed teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and influencing skills; able to work independently and collaboratively.
- Individual contributor role; prior team-lead experience is a plus.
- Willingness to coordinate across time zones with US-based team members.
Education Requirements
BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science required; MS or PhD preferred.
