Job Title
SMTS Device Modeling & Characterization
Role Summary
Senior engineer in the Ultra-Low-Power CMOS modeling team based in Bengaluru developing compact (SPICE) models and characterization flows that are included in Process Design Kits (PDKs). The role supports device model development and validation for FDSOI, FinFET and Bulk MOSFET technologies used in digital, analog and RF applications.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Typical experience expectation: PhD +8 years or Master’s +12 years in relevant engineering roles.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include device modeling, characterization, correlation to hardware, and technical leadership.
- Analyze and represent semiconductor devices using industry-standard SPICE/compact models.
- Design MOSFET characterization structures and run extraction flows for compact models.
- Develop compact models for FDSOI, FinFET, Bulk and emerging devices (MRAM, RRAM).
- Create and validate statistical models (Monte Carlo, mismatch, fixed corners) and perform model-to-hardware correlation and K/CpK analysis.
- Interpret test results, debug device and measurement issues, and prepare technical reports and recommendations.
- Lead or participate in cross-functional and multi-site projects; coach and mentor team members.
- Ensure work complies with Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements.
Requirements
Technical skills and demonstrable experience required for success in this role.
-
Must-have:
- Deep device physics knowledge, especially MOSFET behavior and characterization.
- Experience developing and extracting SPICE/compact device models and running extraction workflows.
- Hands-on experience with device measurements and characterization.
- Experience with statistical modeling and model-to-hardware correlation.
- Proven ability to produce technical reports and collaborate across teams.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
-
Nice-to-have:
- Practical knowledge of FDSOI and FinFET device technologies.
- Familiarity with BSIM model families and model extraction tools (e.g., MBP, ICCAP).
- RF/high-frequency MOSFET characterization and modeling experience.
- Experience with MRAM/RRAM device modeling or process development.
Education Requirements
PhD or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Device Engineering, Microelectronics, semiconductor physics or a closely related technical field. Preferred: PhD. Experience expectations tied to degree: PhD with 8+ years or Master’s with 12+ years of relevant experience.
