Silicon Validation, Staff Engineer

Role Summary

Staff-level engineer responsible for silicon validation and bring-up of ASIC/SoC designs. The role focuses on validating silicon functionality and performance, diagnosing silicon issues, and enabling successful product releases.

The position works with cross-functional teams (design, firmware, verification, and system engineering) to plan and execute validation campaigns, develop lab infrastructure and automation, and provide technical leadership on complex debug tasks.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

• Plan and execute silicon validation and characterization campaigns for ASIC/SoC devices.
• Perform hardware bring-up, root-cause analysis, and debugging of silicon failures at IP and system level.
• Develop test plans, validation suites, and lab setups for functional and performance testing.
• Create and maintain automation, test frameworks, and debug infrastructure.
• Collaborate with design, verification, firmware, and system teams to resolve issues and close validation gaps.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers on the validation team.

Requirements

Core qualifications and skills expected:

• Proven experience in silicon validation, hardware bring-up, and debug of ASICs or SoCs.
• Experience with lab debug tools and methodologies (JTAG, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers).
• Scripting or programming skills for test automation (e.g., Python, TCL, shell scripting).
• Knowledge of RTL, DFT, and common verification and validation flows.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and effective communication with cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with high-speed interfaces (SerDes, PCIe, Ethernet) and system-level characterization.
• Experience developing lab automation, test fixtures, and custom validation tools.
