Job Title
Silicon Validation Engineer, Reality Labs
Role Summary
The Reality Labs Silicon Validation team validates high-performance silicon and system-level hardware-software integration for consumer hardware products. This role leads silicon bring-up, system validation planning and execution, cross-functional debug, and sign-off for Systems on Chip (SoCs) and end-to-end systems.
Experience Level
Senior level. Posting requests 6+ years of hands-on experience with complex SoC bring-up, debug, and validation.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include planning and executing silicon and system validation, driving cross-functional debug, and producing validation deliverables.
- Develop, execute, and sign off SoC and end-to-end system validation plans.
- Plan and participate in silicon bring-up and system-level validation across multiple SoCs.
- Drive test execution and debug across hardware, firmware, and software components; coordinate with cross-functional teams.
- Identify and communicate technical risks and progress to stakeholders.
- Collaborate on lab debug, silicon bug reproduction, failure analysis, and failure reporting.
- Produce validation reports and influence design, DV, and post-silicon teams to improve prototype and silicon usage.
- Adapt validation plans to changing roadmaps and requirements in an agile environment.
Requirements
Must-have technical experience and skills; preferred items listed separately.
- 6+ years hands-on experience in bring-up, debug, and validation of complex Systems on Chips.
- 2+ years experience with high-speed protocols (e.g., MIPI, PCIe, USB, DDR) and high-speed IO bring-up.
- 2+ years experience in silicon validation planning, execution, firmware development for validation, and validation sign-off.
- 2+ years using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, BERTs, protocol analyzers, and JTAG debuggers.
- Experience building silicon validation infrastructure and test automation across distributed teams and sites.
- Experience influencing design, design verification, and post-silicon validation teams.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and debugging skills with hardware, firmware, and software teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Knowledge of ASIC design flow, silicon foundry test flow, and silicon firmware development.
- Experience with pre-silicon validation platforms (FPGA, emulation) and prototype platforms.
- Experience integrating AI tools to optimize workflows and familiarity with responsible AI practices.
- Experience working in cross-site, cross-functional environments.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. (Posting explicitly allows "or equivalent practical experience".)
