Job Title

Silicon Test Engineer, Senior

Role Summary

Member of the Product Development and Test Engineering team responsible for design validation, characterization, and production deployment of ICs for 5G products on advanced FinFET processes. Works with IC Design, Software, Systems and Operations engineering to enable high-volume manufacturability.

Primary focus: develop and operate automated test equipment (ATE), validate and debug device functionality, implement test HW/SW, and release cost-effective production test solutions.

Experience Level

Senior. Minimum qualifications specify combinations of degree and experience: Bachelor's + 2+ years hardware engineering experience, Master's + 1+ year, or PhD.

Responsibilities

Deliver validation and production test solutions and collaborate across engineering functions.

  • Operate and develop tests on Automated Test Equipment (ATE) to validate and debug new silicon.
  • Design and implement test hardware and embedded test software for characterization and production.
  • Characterize silicon across process/voltage/temperature corners and across product conditions.
  • Drive release of cost-effective production test programs for high-volume manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with IC design, software, systems and operations teams to enable manufacturability and yield.
  • Collect and analyze test data to identify issues and improve test coverage and throughput.

Requirements

Key technical skills and domain experience needed. Education items are summarized below in Education Requirements.

  • Must-have: Experience in product development, test validation, and production activities for SoC or semiconductor products (experience level per minimum qualifications).
  • Must-have: Practical experience operating ATE and developing test programs and test hardware/software.
  • Must-have: Hands-on use of measurement and test equipment (oscilloscope, signal generator, spectrum analyzer, logic analyzer, network analyzer, time interval analyzer, etc.).
  • Must-have: Programming experience for test and automation (Python, C++, Java, assembly, or embedded software).
  • Must-have: Experience with schematic capture and circuit simulation tools (hands-on experience expected).
  • Nice-to-have: Domain knowledge in CPU, logic test (ATPG), memory (SRAM, DRAM interfaces), high-speed SerDes, or sensor validation.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with DFT techniques and structural tests (Scan/ATPG, JTAG, memory BIST).
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with ATE vendors or platforms such as Advantest or Teradyne and data-analysis tools (JMP, NI tools, Exensio).
  • Physical: Ability to transport and install light equipment and use test stations for extended periods; routine on-site laboratory work.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, Mecatrónica, or a related technical field. Minimum qualification options: Bachelor's degree plus 2+ years of relevant hardware engineering experience; Master's degree plus 1+ year; or PhD.
