Job Title

Silicon Test Engineer (Digital)

Role Summary

Member of the Product Development and Test Engineering team responsible for design validation, characterization, and production deployment of digital IPs on advanced FinFET processes. Work closely with IC design, software, systems and operations to enable high-volume manufacturability of SoC products.

Primary tasks include operating automated test equipment (ATE) to validate and debug functionality, developing test hardware and software, characterizing devices across corners, and releasing cost-effective production test solutions.

Experience Level

Mid-level - typically 1–4 years of relevant experience. The posting specifies >1 year of product development/test validation experience, with some activities expecting 2+ years.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities for the role:

  • Operate and program automated test equipment (ATE) to validate and debug new digital silicon.
  • Develop test hardware and firmware/software for validation and production tests.
  • Characterize device behavior across process, voltage and temperature corners.
  • Define, qualify and release production test flows and cost-effective test solutions for mass manufacturing.
  • Analyze test data, identify failures/root causes, and iterate on test methods.
  • Collaborate with IC design, embedded software, systems and operations teams to resolve issues and improve yield.
  • Maintain and operate lab measurement equipment and test benches; document test plans and results.

Requirements

Technical must-haves and preferred skills:

  • Must-have: Experience in product development, test validation or high-volume production test for SoC or related semiconductor products (minimum ~1 year).
  • Must-have: Hands-on experience with measurement and test equipment (oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum/time/logic analyzers, ATE).
  • Must-have: Programming skills for test automation and data analysis (Python, C++, or similar).
  • Desired: Familiarity with digital design, CPU architecture, logic test methodologies (ATPG/Scan), memory interfaces and high-speed SerDes.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with Advantest or Teradyne ATE, schematic capture and circuit simulation, analog/mixed-signal measurements (ADC, DAC, PLL, LDO, RF blocks), and DFT/JTAG/memory BIST.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with data analysis tools (JMP, NI tools, Exensio) and embedded/assembly programming or microcontroller platforms.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced engineering environment and communicate results across cross-functional teams.

Physical requirements: frequent movement between campus locations, occasional handling of equipment up to ~5 lbs, and extended periods using computers and test equipment.

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering or a related field. Preferred: Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Computer Science or a related field.
