Silicon Test Engineer (Digital)
QualcommJob Title
Silicon Test Engineer (Digital)
Role Summary
Member of the Product Development and Test Engineering group responsible for design validation, characterization, and production deployment of IPs for 5G products in advanced FinFET processes. Works cross-functionally with IC Design, Software, Systems and Operations to enable high-volume manufacturability.
Primary activities include operating automated test equipment (ATE), developing test HW/SW, characterizing silicon across corners, debugging failures, and releasing cost-effective production test solutions.
Experience Level
Entry-level. The role requires more than one year of experience in product development, test validation, or high-volume production testing; typically 1β3 years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Deliver and maintain test solutions that validate and enable manufacturing of digital silicon.
- Develop, run, and debug ATE tests for digital silicon validation and production.
- Collaborate with IC design, software, systems, and operations to resolve issues and ensure manufacturability.
- Characterize devices across process, voltage, and temperature corners and analyze results.
- Develop test hardware and software, create test plans, and perform root-cause analysis on failures.
- Release cost-effective production test flows for high-volume manufacturing.
- Use and maintain measurement instruments (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum/network analyzers, signal generators).
Requirements
Key technical and operational requirements. Education items are summarized separately below.
- Must-have: >1 year experience in product development, test validation, or high-volume production activities related to SoC or similar products.
- Must-have: Hands-on experience operating or developing tests on automated test equipment (ATE).
- Must-have: Practical experience using measurement and debug equipment (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, spectrum analyzer, time interval/network analyzers).
- Nice-to-have: Experience with circuit schematic capture and circuit simulation tools; VLSI/digital design knowledge (CPU architecture, logic test, memory interfaces).
- Nice-to-have: Experience with Python, C++, Java, assembly or embedded software for test development.
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with DFT techniques (Scan/ATPG), JTAG, memory BIST, high-speed SerDes, RF/mixed-signal validation, and Advantest or Teradyne ATE platforms.
- Other: Ability to transport and install light equipment and monitor test systems for extended periods as required by lab operations.
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field. Preferred: Master's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mecatronica, Computer Science, or related fields.
