Silicon Test Engineer (Digital)
QualcommJob Title
Silicon Test Engineer (Digital)
Role Summary
Member of the Product Development and Test Engineering team focused on design validation, characterization, and production deployment of digital IP for SoC products in advanced FinFET processes. The role collaborates with IC Design, Software, Systems and Operations engineering to enable high-volume manufacturability.
Primary tasks include ATE operation, test hardware/software development, silicon debug and characterization across process/voltage/temperature corners, and releasing production test solutions for mass manufacturing.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Candidates typically have prior experience in product development, test validation, or high-volume production activities (examples in posting indicate >1–2+ years of relevant experience).
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities for the role include:
- Operate Automated Test Equipment (ATE) to validate and debug new product functionality.
- Develop test hardware and software for silicon bring-up and production testing.
- Characterize devices across process, voltage and temperature corners; perform reliability and performance measurements.
- Implement cost-effective production test solutions and support ramp to high-volume manufacturing.
- Collaborate closely with IC design, software, systems and operations teams to resolve cross-functional issues.
- Use measurement and debug instruments (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, logic analyzer, network/time interval analyzers) for signal and RF measurements.
- Analyze test data and produce actionable engineering documentation and reports.
Requirements
Essential and preferred skills and experience (education details are summarized separately below):
- Must-have: Experience in product development, test validation or production test activities for SOC or related semiconductor products.
- Hands-on experience with measurement test equipment and instrument usage (oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, logic/network analyzers, ATE).
- Familiarity with digital/VLSI technologies such as digital design, CPU architecture, logic test methodologies (Scan/ATPG) and memory interfaces.
- Practical experience developing or maintaining test code or scripts (examples include Python, C++ or embedded software).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced lab/manufacturing environment and communicate results to cross-functional teams.
- Physical ability to transport and install small lab/test equipment and to monitor test systems for extended periods.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with Advantest or Teradyne ATE, schematic capture and circuit simulation, mixed-signal/RF measurement techniques, memory BIST, or data analysis tools (JMP, NI tools, Exensio).
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field. Preferred: Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Computer Science or related fields. (Degrees specified in the source posting.)
