Silicon Test Engineer (Digital)
QualcommJob Title
Silicon Test Engineer (Digital)
Role Summary
Member of the Product Development and Test Engineering team responsible for design validation, characterization, and production deployment of IPs for 5G products in advanced FinFET processes. Works closely with IC Design, Software, Systems and Operations to enable high-volume manufacturability.
Primary mission: develop and deploy ATE-based test solutions, debug silicon, characterize across corners, and release cost-effective production tests.
Experience Level
Mid-level — typically requires 1+ years of hands-on experience in product development, test validation, or high-volume production activities related to SoC testing.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include test development, validation, and production support.
- Operate automated test equipment (ATE) to validate and debug silicon and new product functionality.
- Develop test hardware and software for wafer and package testing.
- Characterize devices across process, voltage, and temperature corners; document results.
- Design and release production test programs and cost-effective test flows for mass manufacturing.
- Collaborate with IC Design, software, systems and operations teams to resolve issues and improve test coverage.
- Use measurement instruments (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, network analyzers) to verify performance.
- Analyze test data to support yield improvement and test optimization.
Requirements
Must-have and preferred technical experience.
- Must-have: Hands-on experience in silicon/product test, validation or high-volume production (approximately 1+ years).
- Must-have: Experience operating ATE and common test/measurement equipment.
- Must-have: Programming skills for test development and automation (Python, C++, embedded languages).
- Must-have: Practical experience with schematic capture and circuit simulation tools.
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with digital/VLSI design, CPU architecture, ATPG/DFT, memory interfaces, high-speed SerDes, or sensor validation.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with Advantest or Teradyne ATE and data-analysis tools (JMP, National Instruments, Exensio).
- Physical: Ability to transport and install light equipment, perform tasks standing or sitting, and use test equipment for extended periods.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Computer Science or related fields is preferred. Equivalent practical experience may be acceptable where indicated.
